Starting at La Verna
Plan the route, last-mile arrival, first night, and fallback before beginning at La Verna.
La Verna can be a meaningful mountain threshold for the walk, but reaching it is a separate planning task from choosing a route. Build your arrival for the exact date and direction you will travel, and confirm the final connection to the sanctuary before you leave home.
Know which route and first stage you intend to follow.
Check every leg, including the last mile.
Confirm your stay and arrival window.
Know what you will do if a connection changes.
Choose the walk first
Open the route pages before arranging transport. Confirm the route direction, the first stage you expect to walk, and whether the current page has the planning details you need. A place name in a timetable is not proof that it reaches the trail entrance you have in mind.
This page is not a timetable. Services, stops, ticket products, and operating days can change. Use the current official operator or transport-authority source for your travel date.
Verify the whole arrival
Check the journey as separate legs instead of treating it as one promise:
- the station or stop where each leg begins and ends;
- the selected date, direction, and current service notices;
- whether a transfer is required and how much margin you want;
- the exact ticket product, purchase channel, and validation instructions;
- the final transfer or walk from the last stop to La Verna;
- a contact or fallback you can use if the last connection does not run.
Do not assume that a scheduled line is operating today, that two stops belong to one through journey, or that arrival in a nearby town proves safe access to the sanctuary.
Protect the first night
Confirm your accommodation directly before travel. Ask about the arrival window, meals, late arrival, luggage, and how to reach the property from your final transport stop. If an accommodation cannot confirm a requested service, keep it out of the plan.
Give the sanctuary and the first stage their own time. A calm first morning is easier when transport, sleep, water, weather, and offline navigation were checked the day before.
Keep a fallback
Write down the last workable connection, the official service-status page, and the accommodation contact before setting out. If the evidence becomes unclear, pause and re-plan rather than filling the gap with an assumed taxi, informal pickup, or walking transfer.
Save the route, stay, and notes in My Plan. The print packet is a backup for the facts you verified; it does not refresh a timetable after printing.
